The award-winning ‘The Beatles Story’ is the world’s largest permanent exhibition purely devoted to telling the story of The Beatles’ rise to fame.

Located in the Fab Four’s hometown of Liverpool on the stunning waterfront at the Albert Dock, The Beatles Story takes visitors on an immersive journey through the lives, times, culture and music of the world’s greatest band.
We’ve been working alongside The Beatles Story to help maintain their brand presence for marketing & campaigns to advertise the museum. We have also been working within the museum on exhibition design and wayfinding.

With over 300,000 visitors a year, many from overseas, a bright and engaging identity was required.

Full brand identity refresh with brand guides for marketing campaign  graphics and museum exhibition design pieces.

Clean, simple layouts with bright blocks of flat bright colour and type flow through both The Beatles Story communications literature and museum exhibition graphics.

‘Modern retro’ was the theme here – it was decided not to look overly ‘sixties’ or ‘pop’ so not to clash, confuse or compete with the exhibition pieces or items themselves – but to compliment and highlight them as a base.

 

A simple fun block style was developed with a bright interchangeable colour palette. Within this an illustration style was developed which would run across all marketing materials and through the museum for cohesion.

The museum also holds the ‘FabFour Shop and Cafe’ plus the addition of an education centre – ‘The Discovery Zone’. All of which have their own unique brand style.

Promotional campaigns for the museum feature events and anniversaries from the Beatles and solo careers. Whether this be commemoration of period defining album releases or birthday celebrations and events.

These inspired graphics were applied across digital, web, social, press and OOH.

The Beatles Story in China

The Beatles and all western pop music artists were relatively unknown to the majority of mainland Chinese in the ’60s. But now there is a growing interest. The Beatles Story has a ambitious presence in China as part of its travel trade program to attract overseas tourism.

As part of this there is a need for graphics and literature to be produced for marketing purposes and across dedicated social media channels. A good example of this has been tieing in to Chinese New Year celebrations with a series of targeted social graphics.

 

Discovery Zone

The Discovery Zone is for learners of all ages are invited to explore The Beatles’ influential legacy with interactive activities and creative crafts. A selection of Beatles illustrations have been rendered to support marketing and design activity with the  Discovery Zone.
